La Cooperativa Unidos por el Calzado, initially had a funded a loan in March 2005 and then went through a very difficult stage during which it was unable to make regular payments on the loan. the situation began to improve at the beginning of 2007 and the beginning of a new management team that reviewed the internal organization, the workers decided in an assembly to begin | to repay money to the fund so that it would be available for other cooperatives. Since then they've paid a substantial portion of the debt.
It was one of the first loans made by la Base, and a great value was placed on the promise of the workers to repay the money to the fund in spite of the long time and the difficult period faced by the cooperative at this time.
