Project with La Argentina
Loan for the purchase of raw materials to fulfill a bid won by the cooperative to provide the Hospital Posadas with 30 thousand kilos of bread over the course of four months. The loan is designed as an investment line, in that the cooperative begins to return the principal as soon as they receive payment for the work done, with an automatic renovation if necessary to purchase more raw materials for the same project. | |
The recovered bakery La Argentina has been working with La Base since 2006. In this time they have successfully completed four loan projects. In their first years working with La Base they asked for loans related to the contract they had with the Government of the City for the provision of school lunch trays. But in 2008 this contract ended, and since then they have been working more in the neighborhood of their locale, and also in Hospital Clínicas, the Bauen Hotel and various bars in the area. Despite moderate success working in this manner, they decided to make more bids on larger contracts, | and recently won the contract to work with Hospital Posadas. While this presents itself as a great opportunity for the cooperative, it is also a big challenge in terms of their capacities for self-financing. Because of this they came to La Base to discuss the possibility of working together on a project for the initial investments needed to buy raw materials (in large part flour). This project with La Base will be for 2 months, as opposed to the 4 stipulated in the contract, with the idea being to enable the cooperative to cancel the loan quickly and ask for another if necessary. |
