Every year, the Nicaraguan government gives out tens of thousands of Christmas baskets to all state employees. Generally, these baskets carry a variety of basic products such as beans, rice, cooking oil, detergent, etc. all of which are either imported or made by large corporations. This year for the first time, the government is putting honey in the baskets and has ordered it from La Leonesa. They now have an order for 21,000 | bottles with the potential of an additional 21,000 bottles, which represents 4 years of sales for them. They urgently need financing to buy the raw material from other honey cooperatives in the area to take advantage of this great opportunity. If everything goes as planned, the honey will reap at least U$8,000 in pure profit from this project, which represents by far the biggest single capital injection in their history. |
