The People’s Recovery Continues in the Rockaways!

March 17, 2014

The Roca Mia Construction Cooperative recently completed their second project, renovating a home devastated by Hurricane Sandy. The cooperative fully insulated the home, repaired the bathroom, replaced the flooring and doors, and built a mold-resistant entryway to the boiler room, just some of the many services offered by Roca Mia. The family is thrilled with Roca Mia’s work.

The completion of Roca Mia’s second project marks an important step for our organization: new revenue for another cooperative business in New York City and continued progress in the development of a city wide infrastructure that keeps wealth in the hands of the workers. The partnership between Occupy Sandy and The Working World is a model of disaster recovery that offers more than direct aid, but a long term investment that rebuilds communities while maintaining ownership, ensuring that we are building the resilient city we want to live in.

You can support this model and The Working World by sharing about Roca Mia with your friends and family. Roca Mia’s remodeling and home repair services include flooring, drywall, ceramic tile, painting, bathroom installation, masonry and carpentry. They can be reached by phone at (718) 216-4445 or (347) 358-1509 or by email.

If you know anyone that is looking for a remodel, please let them know of their opportunity to support the Roca Mia cooperative!
