All members of a cooperatively-run business share the labor, decisions, responsibilities, profits, and ownership shares. <a title=\"WORKPLACE DEMOCRACY\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theworkingworld.org\/us\/what-we-do\/workplace-democracy\/\">The result is a democratic workplace that encourages active participation and shared wealth creation.<\/a> And as a model based around its members&#8217; desires and needs, worker cooperatives are deeply rooted in local communities, growing out of and in turn nurturing the neighborhoods that surround them.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theworkingworld.org\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/Woman-smiling.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-80\" title=\"Ceres Cooperative Argentina\" src=\"https:\/\/www.theworkingworld.org\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/Woman-smiling-300x201.jpg\" alt=\"Ceres Cooperative Argentina\" width=\"300\" height=\"201\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.theworkingworld.org\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/Woman-smiling-300x201.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.theworkingworld.org\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/Woman-smiling.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>We support worker cooperatives using a finance model that puts money at the service of people, not the other way around.\u00a0We help design, fund, and carry out productive projects, only requiring that cooperatives pay us back with the revenues the investments generate.
